A Little More About Kathleen: Behind the Scenes Information about the Author/Artist

Updated: May 17, 2023

With a passion for culture and the arts, Kathleen Sumpton is a freelancer operating out of Ontario, Canada. She can often be found working in London, or travelling for shoots in Port Burwell, Toronto, Niagara Falls, and many other of Canada's beautiful locations nearby her home. Her work is inspired by a desire to make people happy by offering both products and services in the Business Arts.

This passion stems from her struggles as a differently-abled person wishing to express themselves through creativity. Kathleen's own artwork is bold, bright, vivid, evoking deep emotions as it is meant to elicit root meanings which cause people to think about critical issues of society.

Kathleen is a multimedia artist as well as a writer making many things in the broad field of expression such as clothing, paintings, books, digital art, household products, and much more. She began her freelancing and self-employment gaining roles in her field of passion that did not exist which she had to create herself because traditional working roles in customer service and other entry level jobs were not as appealing to her as the arts and culture. Her experience is multi-faceted with projects ranging from special events, non-profits, grant writing & fundraising, new business planning and start-ups, journalism and Private Investigative reporting, tutoring, copywriting, song writing & music lessons... The list goes on and on when it comes to the versatility of her artistic skills.

One of the most important is her air of confidence, as that is what captivates people to following her, working with her, learning from her, and more. This air of confidence is how she secured her first freelance and self-employment position back in 2015 at Art With Panache Gallery. It's what allowed her to take off on her own without the support of a full-time, traditional position of employment, as a freelancer in 2016.

Kathleen works with her own business concepts and ideas, such as actual visual arts paintings, as well as works with other brands to promote their products as an influencer, model, photo/videographer, content creator, and actress. She even has experience working with others who have disabilities and has done combination offers of teaching arts (painting, music, poetry) plus regular course curriculum tutoring (science, math), as well as full-care (cooking, cleaning) for young individuals.

Multi-talented, Kathleen has also performed in other roles including book writing, editing, and business consulting. Not just for the business, but personal coaching and consulting, too! As an Author writing in the genre of satire, with works in poetry, books, and children's stories, her novels are "roman à clef" in nature, meaning "a novel with a key," as they are based mostly on true events that she has experienced herself travelling the globe.

As a philosopher, her work brings awareness to large global issues such as the criminal justice system, ostracization, homelessness and poverty, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, sexual assault and violence, substance abuse, trauma, and mental health; a variety of controversial topics everyone else is wary/afraid of, or not allowed to talk about.

With 6 books in print, Kathleen's 7th novel is soon to release as a guidebook or tool for those suffering from substance and/or other abuse including domestic violence to help combat 21st century concerns including the opioid crisis and female empowerment.

As a representative for members of the community as well as for her own projects, Kathleen hopes to enrich her surroundings with both the beauty and power art holds. It is now her personal mission in life to provide meaning and entice insight through multimedia, save lives and help people with her words, and you can find her expression of life in her social links below.

When she is not busy with her work, you can find Kathleen enjoying the outdoors or spending time with her Emotional Support Animal, a dog named Zoey. Zoey is also a model, artist, and fashion designer working with her mom. Kathleen's favourite hobbies are working out and people-watching.
